Bleak and cold…

Francis' white clad figure was alone amongst the sea of short grey stones of memorial. All around him names jumped out to him, the elderly baker, the tea brewer he liked, all of them he knew… but none did he care to visit on this dreary day.

The object of his 'affections' today… Joan.

As words of apology and past left him he could feel rain begin to fall. It pelted the earth and lit the sky up with white fire. It was as if even the elements themselves mourned the loss of France's piece of Heaven.
Round five of :iconhelitalia:'s competition. I was so shocked by this, the prompt is tombstones and rain and it had to be exactly 100 words.

Okay, so I made it this far and I am not too happy with this piece, as I see it having more to do with the rain than the tombstones. The white fire is lighting and he is talking to Joan of Arc's tombstone (sorry for any confusion) I poured effort into this though so :) meh, I'm happy enough. If this makes it through then I am... going to die of happiness... but if it doesn't then I am still gunna :squee: that I got this far into it. So wish me luck :salute:
